About The Campaign

Headway, Brain Injury Services & Support acts as lifeline to people in Ireland who acquire a brain injury after strokes, concussions or other traumatic brain injuries. Every day, in our services, we support the physical, cognitive and emotional struggles of people and their families who are living with an acquired brain injury.

We know that sports are a great way for everyone to stay healthy but if/when you, your player, son or daughter gets a bang to the head or jolt to the body and start to display any symptoms of a concussion – it’s time to come off the pitch, particularly if playing at a grassroots or junior level, where ambulances and medics are not on standby should something go wrong.

Professional players take concussion very seriously. So should the rest of us. Headway, Brain Injury Services & Support is appealing to players, team mates, parents, managers, referees, schools and sports clubs everywhere to become Concussion Aware and to adopt an if in doubt sit it out policy.

To this end we have joined forces with player welfare unions across football, soccer and rugby and in association with laya healthcare and the support of Lifestyle Sports, we are delighted to be able to bring the message ‘if in doubt sit it out’ to homes across Ireland.

Will you help us spread the word? Visit our Facebook and update your profile picture with our Concussion Aware frame, it’s easy, fun and will only take a minute of your time. In exchange for your support, laya healthcare are offering you, your club or school a 20% discount off their “HEAD ON Concussion Management Programme”.

You can also buy our elite performance Concussion Aware laces to help us spread the important message – if in doubt sit it out. ALL proceeds from your purchase will be donated to Headway, Brain Injury Services & Support (www.headway.ie).
